Mentoring

American Christian Writers offers two effective ways to have your work evaluated and given practical suggestions for improving your work.

Online Critique Service

A professional writer or editor specializing in your genre will critique your manuscript for style, spelling and grammar. Click here for complete details.

Mentoring Retreats

ACW’s mentoring retreats feature more than twelve hours of small group and private manuscript consultation work; professional editing and critiquing of your manuscript during the retreat; teaching on how to evaluate, copyedit, and proofread manuscripts; plus the rewriting of your manuscript several times.

This is a rare opportunity to have your own mentor/instructor. Only four to six students with each teacher. Personal attention and free consultations. Critiquing and rewriting of your manuscript. Learn how to think like an editor.

A hands-on writing experience. Ideal for the struggling writer.

What those in attendance have said:

“My mentor helped me greatly at the ACW writers’ retreat in Nashville and went over my manuscript with an eagle’s eye. Subsequently, my book Light in the Night was published and is now on sale nationwide.” Rev. Lud Golz, Ohio

“The ACW writers’ retreat was a great time of fellowship and learning. Within a year after the retreat, my book, Keeping His Pants On . . . Until He Gets Home was published by ACW Press and I starting appearing on TV talk shows in several major cities. I now speak at women’s retreats and conferences across the country.” Joyce Oglesby, Indiana

The friends I made at the ACW writers’ retreat have stayed close to me ever since, and we’ve encouraged each other in our writing careers. It’s a marvelous experience of learning, sharing, growing, and maturing as writers.” Betsy Kalman, South Carolina
